The City of Castlegar now brings you the convenience of managing your accounts and paying your bills online and at any time.


CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS

City of Castlegar is pleased to announce that it will now accept payment by VISA or MasterCard for select payment types. THIS SERVICE WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL SERVICE FEE TO THE CUSTOMER.

Through OptionPay, our third-party payment processor, for a nominal processing fee you can make credit card payment through our website. All processing fees are charged by OptionPay and are not received by the City.

Currently the following bill types for the City can be paid through OptionPay:

  • Property Taxes
  • Utility Bills
  • Pet Licenses
  • Business Licenses

All payments will be received by the City within 48 business hours, so please be sure to allow for this processing time when making your payment. Also ensure to know your daily and/or transaction processing limit when making credit card payments.

For optimal performance please use Google Chrome or Firefox web browser when accessing OptionPay.

PROPERTY TAX PAYMENTS

You will be asked for your ROLL NUMBER (8 digit roll/account number found on your tax notice or look up your property on the www.bcassessment.ca Do not include the 201 prefix.  If you have any questions regarding your property tax notice please email finance@castlegar.ca or call 250-365-7227.

 

UTILITY PAYMENTS

You will be asked for the Utility account number (located on the left hand side of the upper portion of the utility invoice). If you have any questions regarding your utility bill payment please email finance@castlegar.ca or call 250-365-7227.

PET LICENSES

You will be asked for the Pet License account number (located on the left hand side of the upper portion of the pet license invoice). If you have any questions regarding your pet license payment please email finance@castlegar.ca or call 250-365-7227.

 

BUSINESS LICENSES

You will be asked for your Customer number (located on the top right hand side of your invoice). If you have any questions regarding your Business License invoice please email devserv@castlegar.ca or call 250-365-7227.

Please note that the City of Castlegar takes no responsibility for and accepts no liability in the event of security breaches, technical difficulties or any other issues that may arise from your use of OptionPay. All users accept responsibility for their use of this service and do so at their own risk.


TO REGISTER AND VIEW YOUR TAX ACCOUNT

If you are registered, you may view details of your tax account including assessments and bill summaries.

  1. Click on register on the upper right of the screen. Complete your user name and create a password (requires 7 characters). You will also need to add a name that you would like displayed on your virtual account and an email address.
  2. Click register. Once registration is complete a new screen will appear. Click on My Profile and select add a new account.
  3. Select account type PT-Property taxes.
  4. Use the 8 digits after the 201 of your roll number (including the decimal) and access code from your property tax notice for the roll and access code fields. Click save account. (You may add more than one property tax account by choosing save and add another account).

To view your property tax account place your cursor over the online services tab above the City logo and click on property taxes.


TO REGISTER AND SIGN UP FOR UTILITY EBILLING

Once you have a login, you may view details of your utility account including bill summaries, transactions and account balance.  

  1. Click on register on the upper right of the screen. Complete your user name and create a password (requires 7 characters). You will also need to add a name that you would like displayed on your virtual account and an email address.
  2. Click register. Once registration is complete a new screen will appear. 
  3. Click on My Profile and select add a new account.
  4. Select account type UB-Utility billing.
  5. Enter your 13 digit account number, found at the top left hand side of your utility bill and access code/PIN from the right hand side of your utility bill, select your preferred utility billing communication, confirm your email address and click save account. (You may add more than one utility account by choosing save and add another account).

To view your utility account place your cursor over the online services tab above the City logo and click on utility billing.
