The City of Castlegar brings you the convenience of managing your accounts and paying your bills online and at any time.
Credit Card Payments
The City of Castlegar accepts online payment for select services by Visa or Mastercard.
Through OptionPay, a third-party payment processor, for a nominal processing fee you can make credit card payments through the City of Castlegar's website. All processing fees are charged by OptionPay and are not received by the City.

All payments will be received by the City within 48 business hours, so please be sure to allow for this processing time when making your payment. Also ensure to know your daily and/or transaction processing limit when making credit card payments.

Property Taxes
You will be asked for your roll number (8 digit roll/account number found on your tax notice, or look up your property on the BC Assessment website). Do not include the 201 prefix. If you have any questions regarding your property tax notice, please email finance@castlegar.ca or call 250-365-8958.
Utility Bills
You will be asked for the utility account number (located on the left-hand side of the upper portion of the utility bill). If you have any questions regarding your utility bill payment, please email finance@castlegar.ca or call 250-365-8958.
Municipal Tickets
You will be asked for the municipal ticket number (located on the top right-hand side of the municipal ticket). If you have any questions regarding your municipal ticket, please email bylaw@castlegar.ca or call 250-365-7227.
Development Applications
A pre-development meeting with Development Services staff is required to complete the checklist prior to submitting your application and payment. If you have any questions regarding your development application, please email devserv@castlegar.ca or call 250-365-8964.
Pet Licence Renewals
You will be asked for the pet licence account number (located on the left-hand side of the upper portion of the pet licence invoice). If you have any questions regarding your pet licence payment, please email finance@castlegar.ca or call 250-365-8958.
Accounts Receivable
You will be asked for your customer number and invoice number (located on the top right-hand side of the invoice). If you have any questions regarding your invoice, please email ar@castlegar.ca or call 250-304-0204.
Business Licences
You will be asked for your customer number (located on the top right-hand side of your invoice). If you have any questions regarding your business licence invoice, please email devserv@castlegar.ca or call 250-365-8964.
Building Permits
The Development and Licensing Clerk will assign your building permit number before submitting your payment. If you have any questions regarding the status of your building permit, please email devserv@castlegar.ca or call 250-365-8964.

To Register and View Your Tax Account
If you are registered, you may view details of your tax account including assessments and bill summaries.
- Click on register on the upper right of the screen. Complete your user name and create a password (requires 7 characters). You will also need to add a name that you would like displayed on your virtual account and an email address.
- Once registration is complete a new screen will appear.
- Click on My Profile and select add a new account.
- Select account type PT-Property taxes.
- Use the 8 digits after the 201 of your roll number (including the decimal) and access code from your property tax notice for the roll and access code fields. Click save account. (You may add more than one property tax account by choosing save and add another account).
To view your property tax account place your cursor over the online services tab above the City logo and click on property taxes.
To Register and Sign Up for Utility EBilling
Once you have a login, you may view details of your utility account including bill summaries, transactions and account balance.
- Click on register on the upper right of the screen. Complete your user name and create a password (requires 7 characters). You will also need to add a name that you would like displayed on your virtual account and an email address.
- Once registration is complete a new screen will appear.
- Click on My Profile and select add a new account.
- Select account type UB-Utility billing.
- Enter your 13 digit account number, found at the top left hand side of your utility bill and access code/PIN from the right hand side of your utility bill, select your preferred utility billing communication, confirm your email address and click save account. (You may add more than one utility account by choosing save and add another account).
To view your utility account place your cursor over the online services tab above the City logo and click on utility billing.
